What is Art?

Many people have expressed many ideas about what Art is or is not. I personally think that any visual or physical endeavor that allows a person to be creative incorporates both craft and art. The craft portion provides the technical skill to utilize the artist's medium of choice whether it be painting, sculptor, photography, dance, acting or a host of other skills. The art comes in when the person adapts these skills to create something truly unique and awe inspiring.

Then comes the question, must an artist stick strictly to one medium or style to be successful? Must an impressionist never delve into realism? Must a sculptor never paint? Must a painter never photograph? For more than forty-years now I have delved into almost every artistic medium known, from watercolor to digital art to photographs. I believe the ability to create can take many forms and be applied to a multitude of mediums. We are no longer restricted in our methods and techniques by the availability of supplies and pigments. If you want it, someone has it available for sale.

To put it simply: Art is Creation, so get out your tool of choice and Create!
