Using Texture and Painted Borders
Digital Photography has opened a new world of effects and image manipulations that improve the artistic value of our photographs. Adding textures and painted frames is just one of those techniques available to the photographer. Unlike post-processing in the old days that was limited to a few dark room tricks and tedious retouching, programs like Photoshop offer an arsenal that would take a lifetime to learn completely. Nonetheless, easy to learn techniques abound and helpful hints are posted all over the internet to get you started. Give it a try.

Out of Bounds Photography
Have you seen a photograph where it appears that the subject is stepping right out of the frame. This special effect is known as Out of Bounds Photography. It is a technique produced while post processing in Photoshop or other photo editing software. If you would like to learn more about the subject, there are a number of tutorials on YouTube and on Google. The process is not nearly as painstaking as one might think. Try it, you'll like it!

Is Art Work?

Is art work? As I sit at my computer pondering this question other questions come to mind:
• Can something you truly enjoy be work?
• Can something that relieves all of the stress and tension of the day be work?
• Can creating something that can never be created again be work?
• Can something you have done and would do again for free be work?
On answering my own questions, I realized that I love art, would do it regardless and no in my opinion art is not work. I even enjoy the marketing, the networking and all of the other things that get people to look at my art. After all, what is art if no one sees it? Art should entertain. Art should inspire. Art should be fun.
Above are a few of my recent projects and be sure to check out my on-line galleries.

What is Art?
Many people have expressed many ideas about what Art is or is not. I personally think that any visual or physical endeavor that allows a person to be creative incorporates both craft and art. The craft portion provides the technical skill to utilize the artist's medium of choice whether it be painting, sculptor, photography, dance, acting or a host of other skills. The art comes in when the person adapts these skills to create something truly unique and awe inspiring.
Then comes the question, must an artist stick strictly to one medium or style to be successful? Must an impressionist never delve into realism? Must a sculptor never paint? Must a painter never photograph? For more than forty-years now I have delved into almost every artistic medium known, from watercolor to digital art to photographs. I believe the ability to create can take many forms and be applied to a multitude of mediums. We are no longer restricted in our methods and techniques by the availability of supplies and pigments. If you want it, someone has it available for sale.
To put it simply: Art is Creation, so get out your tool of choice and Create!
